Forum 8 Help Authoring Tool – ‘HAT’ Case Study

Forum 8 is a Japanese-based company that produces 3D software for roading and architectural projects. The company needed a Help Authoring Tool (HAT) on their intranet to assist in the documentation of their software products – with the added complexity of side-by-side editing in multiple languages plus a complex approvals and notifications process.Adopting eZ Publish as an expert tool for managing multilingual content, Quiqcorp spent 12 months developing the desired HAT software incorporating the various required permission levels and notification processes.
Quiqcorp also solved the technically difficult task of side-by-side editing in English and Asian languages (such as Japanese and Korean) – requiring simultaneous loading of different character sets in a single browser.
Quiqcorp further expanded and added to the eZ Publish functionality including CHM, PDF and HTML exports of content items, custom compiling schedules, object states, custom interfaces/panes and many more. This required a solution to the complexity of getting a Linux server to export a Microsoft CHM file – no easy feat – but at Quiqcorp we like to think that no technical challenge is unsolvable.
